Japanese Bridal Inspiration Part II

June 27, 2017

I loved this shoot in honor of Carrie Purser and her Japanese Heritage!  Head to the first blog post to see more images or over to Dear Grey Magazine to see the feature!  The red Kimono is from Carrie’s grandmother, the colors in it are so gorgeous!

These first three images are double exposures on film, it is so fun to experiment with!

Japanese Heritage Bridal Inspiration

June 3, 2017

I had the privilege of photographing this shoot inspired by Carrie Purser‘s Japanese Heritage.  She recently found these precious items after her father passed away, what a treasure to find so many beautiful heirlooms.

Carrie’s words are much better than mine:

You don’t know the treasures one may find until you loose a parent and you find precious family heirlooms; this peeked my curiosity and I dove deep into researching my family history having so many unknown answers to all my questions. Why did they want to come to America in the first place, who are these people in the black and white photos, and how are they related to me? And even though the “alien card” I find is an indication of what their immigrant struggles may have been, where are they now?

I cherish all the tokens that were once the tools that helped my ancestors survive in a community which plagued them as an enemy. I adore the the rings that are a symbol of love and fabrics that represent a culture with such style and grace, as well as the remainder of the dinnerware which brings many memories to mind of all the delicious food that was prepared for family gatherings.

Although the answers to many questions may go unanswered, the treasures left behind tell a story of who I am and what is inside of me; what makes my heart beat and what gives me passion to continue to discover. I stand humbled and also with pride knowing this is my family story and it will continue to live with every new generation.

This shoot is featured over on Dear Gray Magazine!

Jackson Hole Wedding Photographer

March 17, 2016

This first photo of the Tetons is one of my favorite images that I have ever taken, I made them run through the sage brush to get the perfect light.  I am so glad they were up for frolicking through the field!  The lighting was perfect in their formal session before their wedding.  These two wanted a destination wedding and they chose to do their wedding in the beautiful Teton Valley.  Driggs, Idaho was the perfect setting for their ceremony, they rented a private cabin and invited some of their closest friends and family.  I love intimate weddings in amazing locations.  Their formal photo session took place in Teton National Park.  Melissa put a lot of effort into all of the hand made details for her wedding.  Courtney even participated in canning the homemade barbecue sauce for the party favors and he smoked all of the meat for the party after the ceremony.  Melissa used her very talented family members to help with a lot of the decor :)! (Melissa is my sister in law, and I helped with a lot of the decor! Haha!)  Handmade dresses, frames, and bunting.  Melissa planted all of the succulent flower boxes, and then gave them away as thank you gifts to those that helped with the wedding.  Dahlia Event Planning and Floral Design made the amazing bouquet and wedding boutonniere and supplied all of the amazing fresh wedding flowers.
